Standing Tall

As a follow-up to Marcie's post below...not only is brooklyn crawling...but she is becoming quite the expert at pulling herself up on whatever she can find and just standing there. We have made a make-shift gate to our kitchen with our ironing board and two chairs and that is now her favorite target as a standing aid.

However, my most favorite thing to do now is to stand her with her back against the wall. Most of the time she loves it (video below), but other time she gets a little frustrated because she doesn't know how to get down. She is definitely letting us know that she is sick of sitting and lying around!!

5 teeth?!

So I was so focused on Brooklyn's two top teeth coming in that I didn't even notice her 3rd bottom tooth coming in. Crazy girl! Now I know why she has woken up at 4:30 the past couple mornings. Anyway, so now she has a third bottom tooth poking out and the two top teeth have recessed a little. One is SO close to poking through. I can't believe what a great teether she is so far. Everyone tells me the molars are the worst though. Hopefully we have a while until those!

Brooklyn is also EVERYWHERE now and she is getting really fast. She really likes to play "catch me" when she is going toward something she knows she shouldn't. What a stinker. She thinks it's hilarious. This video shows you how she acts when she doesn't get her way (as soon as I figure out how to post it at least). What a drama queen. Just like her Mommy I guess. Everyday I think, "What the heck am I going to do with TWO babies!?" But I can't wait none-the-less.

It's official, she's crawling

So Brooklyn finally decided she was sick of seeing something she wanted and not being able to reach it. So she took matters into her own hands. She officially started crawling this past week. No more rolling and scooting for this big girl. She is also starting to pull herself up onto her feet. I keep trying to push her down, but she is relentless. Just kidding about the pushing part. But really, she can take all the time she wants to start walking. She is also cutting her 2 top teeth. Luckily they don't seem to be bothering her. She's such a big girl!

When did "they" start charging for AIR???

So Brooklyn and I were going out for our morning run, when I noticed my tires on the jogging stroller were a little flat. So I thought, "well, no problem, we'll just go to the local gas station next door and fill them up." I briefly thought to myself, "Should I bring my wallet? No, it's air, why would they charge for air? They never did when I was little and we would fill up our bike tires." So out we go to the gas station for some air. Low and behold, it costs 75 cents to fill up your tires! I stood out there for a minute or so trying to figure out if I could at least get a little for free. Luckily, the gas station attendant must have seen my confusion and came out and helped me and flipped the switch inside for me so I could get "free" air. What a nice guy. Needless to say, I was only able to fill two of my three tires because I am completely ignorant on how to fill tires without first deflating them completely. Yes, the air ran out, so I went on my way with 2 full tires, and one somewhat flat tire. Oh well, it worked for today. Brooklyn didn't seem to mind at least! She loves our runs. Here she is all bundled up!

By the way, if you know anyone who is interested in a jogging stroller, I am selling mine. It's a Chariot cougar 1 and it's virtually new. I have used it a bunch, but I have taken REALLY good care of it. I'm selling it for $350, and $50 for the jogging kit. It's a great deal. I need a double now , obviously. They usually sell for $500 new, plus $70 for the jogging kit.

Brooklyn's new "trick"

Brooklyn has this new thing where she scrunches her face up, making her look like she just tasted the most sour lemon. It's the cutest thing. We have no clue where she got that, or why she does it. What a strange child. She also has a new noise where she sucks in the air with a loud gasp. She does this when she's really excited. So dang funny. When I figure out how to post a video with sound, you can watch her in action. I know you can't wait can you? : )

Girls "night" out

Saturday I had a much needed girl's "night" out. It was actually an afternoon out, but you get the idea. We went to "27 Dresses," and Red Robin for lunch. Great movie! I recommend it. This was the first time I've left Brooklyn with Erik for more than a couple hours. It was so much fun! I didn't even worry about her (well, not a ton at least). She had a nice "Daddy/daughter date" at Kohl's. I think I'm going to have to make this a new tradition.
